What I learned from My year of fun and how you can do it

What I gained from My time of fun and how you can do it What I gained from My time of fun and how you can do it I've since quite a while ago viewed myself as a really genuine individual. I study genuine things. I center around helping work environments tackle difficult issues. What's more, for most of my life I've been in quest for a genuine sort of progress: influence, cash, impact, sway. Beginning and maintaining your own business â€" as much fun as it might look on Instagram â€" is a genuine endeavor. So subsequent to busting my butt for a long time, and remaining concentrated on developing my business, last January I set out on an alternate sort of strategic: make 2018 my very own Time of Fun.I needed to lead a little trial on myself: what might it resemble to advance for the sake of entertainment this year as opposed to concentrating such a great amount on progress, cash, or accomplishment? So every single month I concentrated on developing an alternate component of fun, which maybe I'll expound more on sometime in the future. In any case, for the time being, I need to impart to you the to p forward leaps I encountered â€" on the grounds that let me let you know, they shook me to my core. It's my expectation that in the wake of catching wind of my experience, you'll set out on your own Year of Fun in 2019, as well! Furthermore, for every one of you who previously bought your 2019 LifeTracker Planners,, you'll notice that I made the quest for FUN an enormous subject for the whole 2019 schedule year!1. Truly, you can plan for funBeing a carefree individual is frequently connected with being unconstrained, a trademark I unquestionably don't exemplify. I used to feel that there are only two sorts of individuals: joyful, carefree unconstrained people, and genuine individuals who lead increasingly organized, profitable, and centered lives. Discussion about restricted reasoning! I used to believe being fun and lighthearted simply wasn't likely to work out for me.But the current year's investigation instructed me that it's not all that totally unrelated. You can, actually, pla n for more fun. It's essentially an activity in mindfulness. At the beginning of consistently and week, I took a gander at the schedule before me and asked myself: what's on the docket just for fun?I included in weekly drum exercises, regular girls night hangouts, and rendezvous with companions from far away when my work took me voyaging. Rather than looking only to pack my timetable with beneficial time or business organizing openings, I included for no reason in particular days â€" like hiking in Sequoia National Forestfollowing a talking commitment in close by Fresno, CA.And indeed, while it is a complete benefit to have such power over my calendar and the opportunity to essentially create more relaxation time, I'd been wasting that benefit in years past. I speculate a great deal of us don't perceive the force we need to seek after increasingly fun in our everyday. Concurring to Project Time Off,52% of American laborers have get-away days that go unused. Furthermore, I can relate! I'd been so focused on making a decent living or ensuring my business was developing that I used to think, I don't have the opportunity to have some good times! When in all actuality, having a fabulous time didn't generally appear to draw from my main concern much at all.2. Increasingly fun really made me more productiveThis year, I took more excursion time than any time in recent memory. What's more, my business also performed better than ever previously. We expanded gross deals by over 15% this year, which is no little accomplishment in an unassumingly estimated activity like mine.On head of sheer income, I handled the absolute greatest ventures of my vocation this year. I at long last finished the book I've been dealing with for as long as 3 years. I propelled my own independent podcast, which I totally LOVE creating. What's more, on head of what I've handled through Bossed Up this year, Brad and I likewise completed our first home redesign and purchased our subsequent house, de noting the official beginning of our property the executives business.According to a developing body of research, more joyful specialists are progressively gainful and proficient. This is exactly the result I encountered in my time of fun, yet I'll concede: it went out on a limb something of a. At the point when you're stressed over quarterly profit being low, or have an immense approaching cutoff time not too far off, it very well may be extremely difficult to allow yourself to stop, put the work down, and set aside a few minutes for play. But consistently, when I permitted myself to have some good times time wasn't happening at the cost of work time, I had the option to truly have a ball during times of rest and restoration and experience increasingly engaged, beneficial work hours afterwards.3. Deliberately gaining experiences supported my happinessLate a year ago, I read the most recent book from two of my preferred psychological researchers, Dan and Chip Heath. Their book, The P ower of Moments: Why Certain Experiences Have Extraordinary Impact, caused me to understand that I hadn't recently placed a ton of thought into how I commend customs or imprint achievements. It's really one of the books that persuaded me into having a wedding (as I'd been formerly inclining towards eloping.) In it, the Heath siblings put forth the defense that a tad of mindfulness can go far in hoisting any second into a once in a blue moon memory. It enlivened me to consider how I needed to make once in a blue moon recollections this year, beginning with investing some quality energy with my mom to commend her 60th birthday celebration. On something of an impulse, we went in on a steeply-limited bundle get-away arrangement from one of my preferred online experience sites, TheClymb.com: a 8-day guided journey back in my mom's nation of origin of Colombia.I realized this would have been extraordinary on the grounds that my mother never got the opportunity (a.k.a. never had the opportu nity or cash) to come back to Colombia since moving to the United States at 13 years old. Additionally, it was my absolute first time seeing her nation of origin myself! Her 60th birthday celebration came around on Mar. 10, so my mother and I had the greater part of the main quarter of 2018 to energetically anticipate our trek, which was nearly as much fun as taking off on it!We flew out on her birthday, put in a couple of days investigating Bogot, the capital city where my mom burned through a large portion of her adolescence, before taking off on a 4-day trek through the wilderness to antiquated remnants in La Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City) in the Sierra Nevada Mountains close to Santa Marta, a seaside sea shore town.I completely unplugged from work all through our remain (being on a mountainside in the wilderness made that simple), and we appreciated our time together. Upon return, I made my mother a video displaying our time together, so we could think back and make the most of our experience once more! It truly felt like such a significant holding time for my mother and me, and now she's on a kick about creation her birthday a period for an uncommon outing each year! This coming March she's coming to Colorado to visit us in our new home and go climbing with us here.4. Quick fixes check, too!Back when I was a child, there was a class at day camp called Dumb, But Fun, in which you and the instructors would probably hang out and concoct senseless games and approaches to engage yourself. Being the as of now very genuine Posh Spice impersonator among my companions, I believed this contribution to be totally silly and any individual who pursued it to be completely bonkers. However, presently at 31, I at long last understand that the stupid little ways you can enchant yourself mean a lot!I began the year by biting the dust my hair turquoise â€" for no genuine explanation other than I needed to give it a go. I purchased a sulked â€" which I'm persuaded is the mo st awesome method of transportation on the planet, if somewhat illogical on occasion. Brad and I received an infant cockatiel and named him Tunafish (after our preferred Jurassic 5 rapper), having never at any point seen that type of feathered creature before.None of these moves seemed well and good, I'll let it be known. In any case, they put a bigger number of grins all over than I can start to count!Throughout this year, I asked myself what my 7-year-old self would think about the existence I'm experiencing nowadays, and made a couple of wacky moves to charm my internal identity. Joy researcher Gretchen Rubin says that the initial step of having a fabulous time is to profoundly understand what's a good time for you. . What's more, I'd contend the subsequent stage is to not alter yourself! There's this adult thing we will in general do to our youth eccentricities: we defend them, attempt to comprehend them, and must have valid justification to enjoy them. But bringing an excess of reason into this procedure truly hampers the unbridled quest for entertainment only â€" particularly dumb fun. Fun that doesn't bode well. Be that as it may, you will scarcely believe: quick fixes consider only much as the greater ticket things with regards to seeking after a real existence you feel mirror your values.5. What you're focusing on mattersYou realize that adage Focus on the moon and you'll land among the stars? It's a smidgen buzzword, however expects some fact to remember: the course you're going in will totally impact where you end up. Previously, I wasn't pointing myself toward a path that concentrated on fun. I was obstinately seeking after business achievement, development and picking up, amplifying my effect in my locale, and guaranteeing a stable budgetary establishment for my future. These are altogether beneficial things, sure, however they're not all that fun.So without truly pondering it, I landed some place near each one of those genuine types of accomplishm ent, without contemplating regular delights. And you know what the outcomes were? I was worn out. I was feeling desolate. Also, I was restricted in my perspective on what self-care watched like.Turns out, having some good times can actually boost your vitality, encourage social bonds among companions and associates, and help support against stress. Furthermore, after this year, which I can unhesitatingly say has been the best time year of my life, I can't envision living some other sort of way. What would a Year of Fun look like for YOU in 2019?I need to provoke you to bring increasingly FUN into your new year. Truly! I know we're every one of the a piece of the Bossed Up people group since we have huge aspiration. What's more, I guarantee you that your large objectives aren't any less significant when w

When Am I Supposed To Get Nervous

Developing the Next Generation of Rainmakers When am I supposed to get nervous? That was the question 17 year old Charley Hull asked her Solheim Cup captain  Liselotte Neumann during the Solheim Cup tournament last month in Colorado. You can read about it here:  Caroline Hedwall became the first player in Solheim Cup history to win five matches I think this quote from Charley Hull is instructive for any lawyer giving a presentation, writing an article or blog post, attending a networking event, or meeting with a potential client. “I didn’t really feel that nervous, to be honest,” Hull said. “Because this is how I always look at golf â€" I’m not going to die if I miss it. Just hit it, and find it, and hit it again.” Watch this short review of her match against Paula Creamer: So, keep in mind that if you totally fail at any client development activity, you’re not going to die. “Just hit it, and find it, and hit it again.” I practiced law for 37 years developing a national construction law practice representing some of the top highway and transportation construction contractors in the US.

Tips for Asking for Time Off at the Holidays

Tips for Asking for Time Off at the Holidays Tips for Asking for Time Off at the Holidays For a large number of us, the Christmas season is a timeframe we need to go through with loved ones, without stressing over obligations identified with work. The difficulty is, however, that a significant number of your partners have a similar thought. Include the way that a few people are in fields where work must proceed through the special seasons, and you have a precarious test to arrange. Nearly everybody couldn't want anything more than to have some additional downtime during the bustling Christmas season. Businesses need to shuffle demands so as to keep representatives upbeat and to ensure that the remaining task at hand is secured. It very well may be a provoking season to request - and get - additional downtime from work, particularly when youre working for an association that is caught up with during the Christmas season. Tips for Asking for Time Off at the Holidays Whats the most ideal approach to request to take excursion or individual leave? At the point when you need to get some much needed rest for these special seasons, its critical to be adaptable, to be eager to give just as to get, to plan to ask early, if conceivable, and to have the option to offer answers for getting your work secured, if fundamental, while youre away. Here are tips for effectively requesting downtime from work during the Christmas season. Recognize What Time Off You Have Available Before you request occasion downtime, check your get-away or individual leave allotment to be certain you have the time available to utilize. Likewise see whether your organization has an utilization it or lose it get-away arrangement, which could mean you need to take vacation days from work preceding the finish of the schedule or monetary year or relinquish them. Check organization strategy to check whether there are rules for mentioning downtime, and be certain you comply with them. The data ought to be accessible in your companys representative handbook or site. Ask Sooner Rather Than Later Procedures for taking care of this occasion problem will shift given your circumstance. Be that as it may, the prior to you ask, the more probable you will be to get your solicitation approved. If you are in a division like retail, neighborliness, IT, or medicinal services, where inclusion must be kept up, at that point you may need to examine booking with both your director and your associates. One methodology is to organize your vacation inclinations as far ahead of time as could be expected under the circumstances and to carry the issue up for conversation with managers and partners. The previous you raise the subject, the better, and in spite of the fact that being the first to request time off doesnt essentially ensure that your solicitation will be in truth, it gives you more slack with your arrangement. Be Ready to Compromise Be understanding and patient when requesting downtime. Generosity will go far. You ought to likewise invest some energy pondering how you can best trade off if your solicitation isnt allowed in full. For instance, in the event that your family gets together on Christmas Eve, at that point you may elect to take a shot at Christmas so you can remove the day before. If you have associates who observe Jewish or Islamic occasions, at that point you may elect to work those days in return for inclusion on Christmas or New Years Day. Another methodology is to investigate the chance of parting shifts on vacations. For instance, you may offer to cover 6 am to 12 pm, or 12 pm to 6 pm, rather than your ordinary 12-hour move. Plan in Advance On the off chance that consistent inclusion isn't an issue in your field, at that point early arrangement can be the most ideal approach to clean time up for these special seasons. Foresee cutoff times that happen around the special seasons, and set your own cutoff time for December fifteenth to ensure you complete the work before the occasion time frame. Sharing your arrangement to work additional hours or do whatever is important to clear the special seasons with your manager and colleagues well ahead of time can help reduce any worries. Raising this issue with your work group well ahead of time can likewise assist you with avoiding preemptive solicitations from forceful individual representatives. At the point when you present your solicitation for downtime, make certain to pass on to your bosses how you intend to guarantee the entirety of your duties will be dealt with before you leave for your get-away.

SXSW Conversations Using Live Video for Recruiting Branding - Workology

SXSW Conversations Using Live Video for Recruiting Branding - Workology What Live Video Platform Should Recruiters Use? According to eMarketer, 80% of all consumer internet traffic by 2020 will be video. Video offers a unique way to engage job seekers and  employees that offers a personal yet visual storytelling opportunity. As part of the TalentNet Interactive conference in conjunction with SXSW, I hosted a panel discussing the use case, application and lessons learned when it comes to live video. While focused on talent acquisition and recruitment the panel provided insights from some of the best social media strategist who work closely with HR and recruiting but don’t operate directly in the department. The panelists included Michael Goldberg, former head of Talent for the American Heart Association; Beverly Jackson, VP of Social Media and Content Strategy for MGM Resorts International; and Carlos Gil, Head of Global Social Media for BMC Software. What Live Video Platform Should Recruiters Use? When it comes live video, there are a lot of options including Snapchat, Instagram Stories, Facebook Live, YouTube live streaming, Google Hangouts and Twitter Live also known as Periscope. Each of our panelists has experience with different mediums and has had success different ways. For example, the American Heart Association successfully uses live Twitter chats combined with live Periscope videos to showcase the company culture and answer candidate questions on the fly. Engagement on Instagram is 10x higher than FB. 84x higher than Twitter. Click To Tweet While a prominent Snapchatter, Carlos recommends that companies leverage Instagram Stories as his preferred medium to engage. Many panel questions centered around whether or not companies should use live video as an extension of the job description. All panelists agreed that live video is more about sharing about the company culture and provides an opportunity to meet team members and get to know the hiring manager. Beverly provided some great insights when several audience members asked about how to get started and how to make a business case for using live video. As a VP for the company, she says has a great relationship with her boss who is very forward thinking and trusting. Not all of us are that lucky which is why I, personally like to lead with statistics and reports to help make a  case. I like to create pilot or lighthouse programs that allow the leadership to feel safe that we are taking baby steps before we dive in headfirst. There are 8 billion daily views for FB video=100% growth in 6 mo. Click To Tweet How Live Video Changes Engagement with Candidate Employee There are a number of companies using live video with success for the purposes of employee engagemen,t including WalMart, who uses live video to talk to employees across the organization through their Facebook page as well as Southwest who also uses Facebook Live to talk to employees in private Facebook groups. Live video usage for recruiting and hiring is still relatively new, so it presents a great opportunity. I’d love to see more companies using video as a way to engage and build relationships with candidates. They could serve as a virtual happy hour or job fair of sorts where the job seekers already within your ATS, social media or CRM can actively engage, ask questions and get to know not just the company culture but the employees. As culture fit becomes more important and as seen as a way to reduce employee turnover, live video presents a way to help set real expectations for both the candidate and the employer. Because of limitations to posting on job board sites, live video isn’t available there. However, with little effort, companies could use YouTube to live stream directly from their company career sites, driving traffic to a property they own and are in full control of the brand. This is what I’d recommend to companies. Otherwise, we are just renting space on these social networks, and while I certainly think employers need to have a presence on social media, at the end of the day, it’s truly important to drive candidates to your job postings and CRM to allow for targeted opportunities to continue to foster engagement with candidates especially those purple squirrels that we all want to work at our companies.

To Find A Mentor, You Must Be A Student - Work It Daily

To Find A Mentor, You Must Be A Student - Work It Daily I was fortunate. In my first occupation after school, I had an incredible coach who played a functioning job in my profession advancement. He pushed. I tuned in. All things considered, make that 'held tight every word.' The way that anybody would remove time from their timetable to mentor a beginner like me was a blessing… and I knew it. Model: When I requested a raise, he caused me to exhibit I was justified, despite all the trouble by... Perusing a progression of books (How to Win Friends and Influence People, and so forth.). Composing a paper about what I gained from every one. Finding an operational issue in the workplace and tackling it utilizing TQM forms. (The outcome was a fastener of data and graphs.) En route, there were a ton of naysayers who thought he was simply slowing down on the grounds that he would not like to pay me more or give me the advancement. Truth be told, numerous individuals I addressed were fringe shocked somebody would need to go through the motions to gain a raise they were most likely qualified for in any case. In any case, I knew better. In the long run, I got the advancement. I'm certain it's not amazing that I was more ready to handle the new difficulties in light of the entirety of the pre-work I had done progress of time. From that point forward, my old supervisor has had numerous new experts work under him. However, he's had no authority mentee since me. At the point when I asked him for what valid reason, he said No understudies. As it were, finding a guide is just a large portion of the fight. From that point onward, you should be a decent understudy. Listen appreciatively. Apply what you've figured out how to your work. Exhibit energy so he/she feels their interest in you is important. It's not the speediest course to progress by any stretch, yet I guarantee you the excursion is its own prize. I am guessing thats why you might be here reading this Tableau tutorial because you have heard about the advantages of Tableau. The demand for Tableau certification training is at peak because of its increasing adoption in the market. This is my first blog in this Tableau Tutorial blog series which will explain how to get started with Tableau. Hope you will enjoy learning about Tableau with this Tableau Tutorial blog.Well you came to the right place. In this Tableau Tutorial, you will be learning the following topics:Importance Of Data VisualizationData Visualization ToolsWhy Tableau? What Is Tableau?Tableau Product FamilyUnderstanding More About TableauVisualizationsUse Case DatamaticsLet us first start this Tableau tutorial by understanding the concepts behind Data Visualization.Importance Of Data VisualizationData Visualization is one of the most important part of data analysis. It has always been important to present the data in an understandable and visually appealing format. Data visualization is one of the skills that Data Scientists have to master in order to communicate better with the end users.Data is the word here.Let me first give you an idea of the kind and amount of data that we are dealing with.According to SiliconAngle, there was 2.5 zetabytes of stored data world over in the year 2012 and it is set to hit more than 50 zetabytes mark by the end of 2017. To put things in perspective, this data has largely been produced by websites and cross platform transactions. Add to it the fact that there would be a total of 20 billion smart devices connected to the internet by the end of 2020 and the numbers can be baffling!Data visualization allows data scientists to converse with their end users. The outcome of da ta analysisis not immediately comprehensible to the people who do not directly deal with data. Data visualization bridges that gap and makes people appreciate the possibility of data analysis.Let us consider the following example to understand this:The following image shows the x and y co-ordinates of different points to be plotted on a graph. The numbers look almost the same, dont they? Maybe the lines will look similar after we plot each set on the graph. So, now take a look at the image below when we plot these points in our graph:You see how different they look like when you actually visualize it. It wasnt possible for us to figure out the nature of each line until we visualized it.Tableau Tutorial: Introduction To Data Visualization ToolsHere are the top 5 data visualization tools that are being used extensively in BI:TableauQlikviewDomoMicrosoft power BIExcelLet us know a little bit about all of them.Tableau:Basic version of Tableau data visualization tool is free which can per form regular tasks such as: Sales data analysis User density monitoring Consumer segmenting Tracking budgeting expense Categorizing and sub-categorizing dataExcel:You can actually do some pretty complex things with Excel, from heat maps of cells to scatter plots. As an entry-level tool, it can be a good way of quickly exploring data, or creating visualizations for internal use, but the limited default set of colors, lines and styles make it difficult to create graphics that would be usable in a professional publication or website.Microsoft Power BI:Microsoft Power BI is a cloud-based business intelligence and analytics service that provides a full overview of your most critical data.Connecting to all of your data sources, Power BI simplifies data evaluation and sharing with scalable dashboards, interactive reports, embedded visuals and more.Domo:Domo is designed to be available for all business users, regardless of technical expertise, to help them make better business decisions.Dom o recently launched Business Cloud, the worlds first open, self-service platform to run an entire organization. Business Cloud brings together the data, the people and the insights users need to find answers to critical business questions and make faster, better-informed decisions to improve performance.Qlikview:The QlikView business discovery platform is one of a few visual analytics tools offered by Qlik. QlikView cant create the same elegant visualizations that the other tools offer, but the softwares dynamic model means that you can quickly analyze your data in multiple dimensions. In addition, QlikView is able to work off of data in memory instead of off your disk, allowing for real-time operational BI environments (like monitoring financial transactions).QlikView is able to work with a wide variety of data sources, including SAP, Oracle, Salesforce.com and other legacy data files like Excel spreadsheets. Whats more, QlikView can combine these disparate data sources into a sing le visualization or dashboard. But now the big question is which tool should you go for? Well, I say go with Tableau. Take a look below to know why.Why Tableau?Below are some of the pros or features of Tableau which will spellbind you to start using it right away!Tableau Features:1. Apt visualizations:Tableau connects to many different data sources and can visualize larger data sets than Power BI can. Once in Tableau, a dashboard showsthe basics of the users data. The user can then drill down into data sets by downloading a worksheet. From there, they can apply various visualizations to the data.In Tableau, you select the data and switch between visualizationson the fly. Its easier to jump between visualizations in Tableau.Tableau visualizes data from the start, allowing you to see the significance right away. Tableau differentiates correlations using color, size, labels and shapes, giving you context as you drill down and explore on a granular level.2. Depth of discovery:The feature s of Tableau gives users ways to answer questions as they investigate data visualizations. The solution can show basic trends as predictions, use what if queries to adjust data hypothetically, and visualize components of data dynamically for comparisons.3. Implementation:Tableau provides a variety of implementation and consulting services. For enterprise-level deployment, theres a four-step process spanning weeks, and for smaller-scale deployments, there are quick-start options that can complete setup in a matter of hours.Tableau provides a variety of implementation and consulting services. For enterprise-level deployment, theres a four-step process:Phase 1 This phase involves IT planning, architecture consulting, pre-install checkup, server installation and verification, and validation of security configuration.Phase 2 Phase 2 involves working with data and data migration, including data modeling, data mining, data extraction, data sources and business workflow.Phase 3 In Phase 3, theres a two-day classroom training covering Tableau Fundamentals, hands-on advanced coaching, and building and formatting visualizations.Phase 4 This final phase helps companies expand Tableau usage across their business. It includes implementation workshops where topics such as evaluating action plans and defining measurable outcomes are discussed.4. Automation functionality:Tableau is a little more intuitive with creating processes and calculations. For example, when creating calculations in a tabular format, the formula can be typed once, stored as a field and applied to all rows referencing that source. This makes it easier to create and apply recurring processes. Tableaus flexibility also allows users to create custom formulas that arent available in most of the tools.5. Data source connectors:Tableau offers hundreds of native connectors to easily pull, cleanse and correlate data from practically any source without having to create custom code.Tableau extracts large data s ets from sources for quick, ad-hoc analysis using two different methods: Live Connection and In-memory. Both adapt to your local database and, based on the size and capacity, sync data quickly by extracting the relevant data to a query. It also has a general Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) connection for any connections that dont have a native connector provided. This is the reason, you can see an increasing demand graph for Tableau certification training.Tableau Product Family1. Tableau Desktop:It is a self service business analytics and data visualization that anyone can use. It translates pictures of data into optimized queries. With tableau desktop, you can directly connect to data from your data warehouse for live upto date data analysis. You can also perform queries without writing a single line of code. Import all your data into Tableaus data engine from multiple sources integrate altogether by combining multiple views in a interactive dashboard.2. Tableau Server:It is more of a enterprise level Tableau software. You can publish dashboards with Tableau Desktop and share them throughout the organization with web-based Tableau server. It leverages fast databases through live connections.3. Tableau Online:This is a hosted version of Tableau server which helps makes business intelligence faster and easier than before. You can publish Tableau dashboards with Tableau Desktop and share them with colleagues.4. Tableau Reader:Its a free desktop application that enables you to open and view visualizations that are built in Tableau Desktop. You can filter, drill down data but you cannot edit or perform any kind of interactions.5. Tableau Public:This is a free Tableau software which you can use to make visualizations with but you need to save your workbook or worksheets in the Tableau Server which can be viewed by anyone.Understanding TableauLet us start by taking a look at the datatypes that Tableau supports. Refer to the diagram below which shows all the compat ible data types of Tableau. The above diagram shows you the data types that Tableau supports with respective examples. Now, the data types that we are dealing with can also be categorized broadly into two categories and they are:MeasuresDimensionsRefer to the diagram below to understand the differences between Dimensions and Measures. In order to make it more understandable to you, A dimension is used to add more detail to describe your data. How To Use Tableau? You just need to follow the below 3-step mantra to use Tableau:Connect to dataPlay around with the UICreate visualizations1. Connect to dataThe first thing to do in Tableau is to connect to your data. There are mainly two types of connections-Connecting to your local file or connecting to a server.Tableau can connect to any local file or database such as- Excel Text File Access Statistical File, orOther Database file. Local connection gives the maximum speed of data processing.Tableau can connect to your data server too. It can connect to almost any type of data server. Below are some of the most popular databases that Tableau can connect: Tableau Server Google Analytics Google BigQuery Hortonworks Hadoop Hive MapR Hadoop Hive IBM DB2 IBM BigInsights IBM Netezza Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft Analysis Services Oracle Oracle Essbase MySQL PostgreSQL SAPWhile working on Tableau, data can have Live Connection where any change in the source data will be automatically updated in Tableau. On the other hand, data can be Extracted to Tableau repository so that any change made here will not affect the original source data.Data JoinsYou can also integrate different data-sets together to link up and produce better insights. There are different ways to join data-sets. Refer to the diagram below to understand them all.In the above diagram shows the four data-set join options available in Tableau.2. Play around with the UIThis is how the user interface looks like:UI- Show me the dataThis is the pane with which you can create visualizations. Industry Spotlight Customer Service - Walrath Recruiting, Inc.

Industry Spotlight Customer Service - Walrath Recruiting, Inc. The Customer Service Industry is incredibly unique. While  it exists as a subset within almost all other industries, it is also  a vital component of them. No two customer service departments are  the same. However, all departments focus on customer satisfaction. In 2016, there are new ways in which employees should expect to drive satisfaction. Today well be discussing customer service trends. The Customers Change The largest reason for the constant shifts in the customer service industry is because customers themselves are continually evolving.  Customers are becoming smarter and more market savvy. This means  the same old ways of driving satisfaction will no longer work. Customers are more connected than ever in new ways. Social media and the rising use of mobile devices means a more connected customer. On every new platform a customer arrives, reps need to be there to greet them. Gone are the days when customer service could  rely solely on email and phone communication. The millennial consumer base is also growing, who expect a quick response to any problems that may arise. Millennials, along with other generations, also expect to speak to someone and have a  human interaction for problem resolution. Automated responses and decision tree based customer service will no longer cut it. Not having access to a human conversation could make a customer consider leaving your business. Customers also expect a genuine and unscripted conversation. If it doesnt feel natural customers may consider looking elsewhere for their products or services. In conclusion, the power has shifted to the customer. Customer service must move to meet the customer in their preferred space to accommodate them in a timely and sympathetic fashion Rethinking Customer Service However, simply because customers dont want an automated response doesnt mean there arent alternatives. To start, many customers are becoming more adept at solving their own problems. This means they are greatly appreciative of a comprehensive self help page. This by no means should replace primary forms of support. However, it offers a good alternative for many customers. Another option that is heavily desired is live chat. Sometimes customers dont want to commit to a phone conversation, and prefer live chat. Having reps on call who can quickly message  is simple to set up and goes a long way with customers. Another big addition to the customer service scene is feedback and big data. Now more than ever, customer service representatives have access to relevant data. This data can be extremely telling and exists because of all the new platforms. Analyzing this data to breakdown consumers into demographics and preferred platforms will be helpful. Proper analysis will make it easier to properly interface and more efficiently problem solve with customers. Some departments are even working with marketing to harness the data between both groups. Shifting Focus Customer service  is also recognized  as a valuable commodity by management. Managers are realizing the importance of customer service and that mentality is being integrated internally. Many companies are promoting a customer-centric culture. Some managers are even beginning to use customer satisfaction as a metric for employee compensation. The last big change is a shift from reactive  customer service to a more proactive approach. This involves identifying customer problems before they arise, and resolving them ahead of time. It can be challenging to accomplish, but powerful when achieved. This can mean focusing on feedback as well as announcing problems when you become aware. Although this shows there is a problem,  all possible incidents There are many aspects of customer service that will continue to  evolve, since the customer is constantly changing. Customers will dominate the industry, and departments will have to adjust accordingly. Gone are the days of just phone and email. Multi-platform communication with  customer service is here to stay.

How to Negotiate for Higher Pay When My Salary History Is Low

The most effective method to Negotiate for Higher Pay When My Salary History Is Low Another law spent recently in Massachusetts makes it illicit for businesses to request an up-and-comer's past compensation history during the recruiting procedure. The law is expected to support truly came up short on gatherings (e.g., ladies, minorities) break out of the lower paid positions. Without a doubt, past pay is a solid stay point that influences how much businesses offer a forthcoming recruit. In any case, past compensation isn't the main deciding element to your future compensation. In the event that you've generally been come up short on, you can return to advertise esteem, regardless of whether it implies a huge knock in your next compensation. So until the consequences of this law happen in MA (and for work searchers outside of MA who don't have the advantage of this insurance) here are four different ways to arrange your pay back up when your past compensation has been underneath showcase esteem. Close Modal DialogThis is a modular window. This modular can be shut by squeezing the Escape key or actuating the nearby catch. Concentrate on the new job, not your past compensation I once enlisted for a tasks job for a pharmaceutical organization in the upper east. The triumphant up-and-comer ended up being somebody from the shopper items industry in the southeast. Given the various enterprises and topographies, the competitor had a compensation that was half beneath the objective spending plan for this activity. (Furthermore, this applicant had been at his present manager for a considerable length of time additionally bringing down his pay contrasted with advertise). This applicant was 100% qualified for this requesting job and was terribly come up short on for the aptitudes and worth he could bring to the organization. The organization had just planned for a pay that would twofold what this up-and-comer was formerly making and offer him back up for sale to the public. Be that as it may, after computing that the offer would speak to a 100% pay increment, the organization selected to offer not exactly recently planned, which despite everything gave the up-and-c omer a half increment. In the business' psyche, it was a success win â€" they got a break on the remuneration, and the applicant despite everything got a critical boost in salary. Peruse: The 8 Best Skills for Career Changers Be that as it may, the up-and-comer moved the concentration from his past pay. He didn't haggle for a half increment or a 100% expansion. Rather, he concentrated on the new job â€" what it paid in the market, how immaculate his aptitudes and experience were for the job. By maintaining the emphasis on the future job and away from his past compensation, he had the option to move the business back to their unique financial plan for the job and multiplied his pay. Underscore your extraordinary worth In another exchange, this time for a non-benefit, an accomplished pledge drive was at that point seriously paid for her present job however was going for an official job at a bigger, increasingly complex association. The move would speak to a half knock in pay if the future manager paid this applicant dependent on the new job, not her previous compensation. While the future business attempted to bring down (contending that she didn't have a reputation), this up-and-comer maintained the emphasis on the abilities she had, not her absence of involvement with this specific job. Truth be told, she had a solid system of associations that this association required, and there was an up and coming raising support push where her past experience would be amazingly helpful. By stressing her one of a kind incentive for the new job, she had the option to grapple the compensation to the new job, not her previous history. Have different choices Haggling up isn't just held for officials or the extremely experienced. An assistant for a media organization got a 67% expansion in her time-based compensation by concentrating on the new job, accentuating her exceptional worth, and having different alternatives. The temporary job was for another computerized activity at a very notable shopper distribution. This organization had individuals thrashing their ways to work for nothing, however this job required site understanding and coding so the objective compensation was at that point higher than the financial plan for different assistants. The triumphant up-and-comer had the specific arrangement of aptitudes, and she likewise had a contending offer for more than twofold what this business advertised. She didn't request twofold (the other offer was for an alternate, more lucrative industry) however she asked and got a 67% knock. The organization selected not to go to and fro in an extended arrangement since they feared losing her. Ha ving different choices expands the need to keep moving and your apparent allure! Peruse: How I Negotiated a Nearly $20,000 Pay Increase Know your market In the over three situations where competitors effectively haggled up by a critical sum, they all realized their objective market. This is the thing that empowered them to concentrate on the new job and gauge its legitimate remuneration, underscore their remarkable worth with the end goal that it was pertinent to the business, and have different choices to use. Realizing your market will guarantee that you have other compensation information to highlight, other than your own. All things considered, if your pay is low and the market is higher, you need to move the concentration to that higher number. On the off chance that the business despite everything demands featuring your previous history, realizing your market will empower you to situate that previous history in the best light. Realizing your market is itself a type of influence since it gives you the choice to leave and find other, progressively reasonable jobs. When you realize what you're worth, you don't need to settle.
